SXSW Film Festival Call For Entries Announced

The SXSW 2009 "Call for Entries" is now open. Filmmakers are invited to submit their new works to the annual festival, which has become an international destination for cinematic discovery. Submissions can only be entered via the official SXSW Web site: http://sxsw.com/film/ . Complete submission rules and regulations are available on that site.

Part-time 20 hrs/wk, or full-time, full-commission inside-salesperson needed to sell radio interview (publicity) campaigns to indie filmmakers. We won the Book Publicists of Southern California award for Book Publicist of 2006; several of our clients have had half-hour and full-hour interviews on talk stations right here in LA (as well as around the country.) And our top salesperson made over $80,000 in commission for 2007 on a part-time flexible schedule.

Avid vs Final Cut

Which is truly the superior editing software? Final Cut or Avid? I've used Avid about 8 times more than I have Final Cut, but when I first starting using Final Cut, I noticed some things that I wish were in Avid, and some things that I wish Final Cut had from Avid. I know most professionals now use Avid, but I also know that Final Cut is "on the rise". It seems like though that on Final Cut, you are able to do more editing on the time line, it is convenient, but I'm sure it will cause people to become more lazy and not pay enough attention to detail.

This project is just supposed to be a demonstration of your story boarding, shooting, and post editing skills. I start school at Full Sail University on Sept 29th....
