IFP/LA Directors Lab Submission Deadline EXTENDED!

Due to the closing of IFP's office for the holidays, the submission deadline for the 2004 Directors Lab has been extended to January 5, 2004. The annual Directors Lab takes place in Los Angeles from February, 2004 through March, 2004. IFP/LAs Directors Lab is an intensive seven-week program designed to support directors working in independent film. Past lab instructors include Allison Anders, Rodrigo Garcia, Nicole Holofcener, and Michael Steinberg. During the lab, participants select scenes from their scripts and walk through a mini-production under the guidance of the lab instructor. Participants learn how to break down a script, collaborate with a cinematographer, work with actors and construct a scene in the editing process. In addition, lab participants have one-on-one meetings with lab advisors, which range from established directors, producers, casting directors and other industry professionals who advise them on their projects. Participants also receive access to DV cameras and to Final CutPro as well as a complimentary pass to the IFP/LA Director Series, which runs concurrently. For an application or for more information on the IFP/LA Directors Lab contact Wendy Wegner, Lab Assistant, at 310/432-1275 or download the Filmmaker Lab Application at www.ifp.org.
