Problem capturing DV to computer via 1394 Firewire

Hello guys. Anyone could help me? i have a JVC DV and my firewire card is detected i THINK. not sure but i think so. i've tried to Capture the video with Premiere, Ulead VideoStudio 11 & Pinnacle 9.0 Plus.. but the programs do not detect anything. i have the camera on "play mode" while trying but doesn't seems to work. i'm using Win XP Pro sp2. anyone who can try to help me? thanks!

Check your settings in the editing programs. Usually they have a preferences panel with capturing options. Make sure they're set for your firewire card.

well. i tried but i couldn't find anything in Pinnacle Studio 9. just Capture source and quality, it doesn't find my cam, and i know my firewire works cuz it's detected in my network folder. i read that JVC cams has problem with their firewire, or just a wicked system. but thx anyway

I've never had a problem with a JVC camera firewire port. Except for that idiot who plugged the firewire cable in backwards, shorting out the capture card and the camera's port. Yes, it's possible, if you're stupid enough to force it. My guess is it's something in your software. You will probably have more luck looking into the Pinnacle Studio 9 online help community.

well, hehe i've tried with premiere pro 2.0, vegas & moviemaker too.. so i'm not so sure it's my software :/

Well, then I would test your camera on another computer and then test your computer with another camera.

i have tested the camera on another computer, i've tried my firewire on another computer. i've reinstalled the computer. nothing helps Sticking out tongue

Sounds like it's time to call JVC tech support and ask for a replacement or a repair. I've shipped one JVC camera off for repairs before, and it took forever to get back. The JVC tech support is slow and complicated to get through, but in the end they made the camera work again. But before doing that, try to get a different camera to run through your system, just to make sure your card will work with another camera.

oh man. that sounds like a tough task.. well yes thanks, i will try a different camera if i can fix one.. thanks
