Bard College

The Bard film department, otherwise known as 'The People's Film Department,' under the leadership of Adolfas Mekas, is the mortal enemy and antithesis of NYU. It's program focuses on the avant-garde cinema and would greatly disappoint anyone looking to get those Hollywood connections. The experience and knowledge I now have could never be matched by anyone that attended the 'big' cinama schools. Let's face it, it took me one year to learn the commercial filmmaking gear and protocol, but I got paid to learn. While the NYU graduates knew more than I did about the commercial aspect of filmmaking, I now know just as much and can still discuss Marie Menken and Ron Rice at the chichi parties my allumni buddies invite me to.
