Art Center College of Design

Best design school in the world! Not a very good fine arts program, but stands on it's own. They really overachieved and created a very well balanced film program that not only emphasizes the visual (a design school's purpose!), but they also teach you extensively about writing for film! You will be working with students in other programs which will make your films look a whole lot better (product designers, environmental designers, advertisers, etc!). Another great thing about this school is it's designed for the advanced students of film (i.e; you need to show 12 shorts in your portfolio and should have a few years of filmmaking under your belt). So if your looking for advanced training, go there! I'm moving to Los Angeles Summer 2003 (I'm at City College of San Francisco film production program right now) and the top choices to me were: UCLA, USC, AFI, and LA Film School (and CCAC, ETc). None of the student films really shook me unless the student themselves were very creative. I then discovered the gem in Art Center College of Design and saw that MOST of the students films (regardless of creativity or not) looked visually really good and were visually creative. Very advanced looking films. The director of "The Cell" graduated from there (as well as Michael Bay whom I don't think is a good director but his films (for his style) are visually very nice). They also are very good at teaching you how to get into the business and a lot of their students win awards at the Clio awards! Good luck

Re: Art Center College of Design

Yeah, but ACCD still needs a Spielberg to come out of there before it'll really get recognized.
My score: 10.

Spielbeg didnt even graduate

Spielbeg didnt even graduate from a film school until many years after the start of his career.
