Beijing Film Academy

Attended: AM there now
Recommend: Yes

You need first to have 2 -3 years of solid chinese before you attend. They say you need a year but trust me when I say that if you study only a year you will not catch a thing. You study with 4th generation directors. Some are good most are just average film makers. The education you can get here is up to you, if you pursue it hard then you can get aot of opportnitis to do things make shorts, and work with chinese students which is great. I am an American studying here. Just be aware that the class size is huge and individual teaching or personalized attention is nowhere to be found. Equiptment is basic dv as well as 3 ccd dv cams, bets as well as 1 16 mm camera. Practical work is rare and most classes are long and tedious, making you long for filming something. Anyone who is serious about coming here needs to think carefully, its cheap but think about what you will get. I only rate this a positive because I have gotten something from it, but you will need to fight for it. If the idea is to work with chinese ten this is the place, but if your just looking to learn from abc then go elsewhere.
