An Idea of a reinvention of an oldie

Whenever the dreaded words "remake" are said they are usually met with a horrible feelin in the pit of the stomach. As shotty directors and writers take the things we loved and bastardize it for a whole new generation. What I have in mind is something different. First I would like to say I'm a huge Nightmare on Elm Street fan. I had a dream when I was in Iraq (yes I'm a veteran), I woke in a dilapitated building that bore a resemblance to a barracks, ( for those of you who don't know it's like the projects) everything was blue and felt real everything from the touch to the smell. I thought it was a nightmare, thats how it felt very ominous and everything. I walked around trying to desern what was going on, when I found a little girl. She was hiding in a corner next to an old school desk, but when she saw me she lept at me as if she knew me and gave me a hug. It was then I sponataniously knew (with a certainty only dreams can provide) that I was in her nightmare. I consoled her until she went to sleep and I woke up.

So what does this have to do with anything..... well, I watched elm street 3 Dream Warriors and I can to a realization. A reinvention of the freddy classics going the old route of the origin story. It only made sense that Freddy could go in others dreams while he was alive, like Kirsten in part 3. In Freddy's dead we learned that he had a wife and kid so in my mind he had to be a little normal at some point. In this world he repressed his child-hood, but tormented by his dreams of hurting a little girl, lashing out on the innocence that he literally was never born with or had. He goes to psychiatrists and begins to learn of his past. While this happens his alter-ego in his dreams bleeds more and more through to his everyday normal life. This culminates when he finally sees the little girl in his dreams and they both are filled with the horror of each others existence. He ultimately starts killing children, but not the little girl of his dreams. The inevitable fire scene at the boiler house happens and he is knocked unconscience by the falling of the building. While this happens he violently through his self, his soul persay into the little girl, which ends up in a coma from the ordeal. It would probably be shown that this girl is Kirstens mother and passes down her gift of dream traveling to her when she wakes up from her coma and part 1 happens. This would go at the angle of a classic tormented monster but humanized, him trying not to fall into the destiny of what his is and what he will become. Almost a psychological thriller but with a bit more blood.hehehe
So tell me what you guys think! Does this have potential for an actual full blown idea or am I just a fan boy with f'd up dreams?

What do you mean by "an actual full blown idea"?

Are you asking if you can sell this script based on the Freddy character to Time Warner?
Or are you asking for opinions on your idea?

Idea

What I mean by that is from a perspective that is more of inline with moviemakers such as this community does this sound like it would work, and yeah opinions would be nice. Be Brutal!

Idea

As you probably have guessed I'm not really a person that makes films or has even written a screenplay, but it has always been a dream goal for me, one of those before I die things to write a screenplay even if it never got picked up just to have it and know that it was mine.
