Review:
I'm currently a third year graduate student at UNO and thus far my experience has been quite positive. There are plenty of opportunities to make the films that you WANT to make (under the guidance of the faculty of course), and the access to equipment is frequent. I've had the pleasure of meeting people in the industry in New Orleans, which has been an added bonus to my experience. The faculty-to-student ratio is getting a lot better (it was a little off-balance after Katrina), and they're all easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend the school to anyone serious about filmmaking.

Though the University itself
Though the University itself may feel like a standard state college otherwise, the film department is a good place to get right into film. I am a transfer student from Ohio State (where there was no film program) and have worked with independent filmmakers and students and been given opportunities to learn directly from active directors, producers and art directors from AFI and visiting while shooting on location in New Orleans. Since Katrina the film program has advanced and grown significantly and now, I believe, far surpasses what it was before 2005. As a film student, I know that if I have a project I have ample opportunity to make it happen.
