CALL FOR ENTRIES - Toronto Urban Film Festival

The Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF) is a 10-day long public film festival that runs on the ONESTOP network of LCD screens situated above the subway platforms inside the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

The festival runs September 11 - 20, 2009, concurrent with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and has an audience of over 1.6 million daily commuters. All film screened are silent and 1-minute in length. Films are selected by a panel of filmmakers, academics and programmers with the top 3 films chosen by guest judge Don McKellar (Where The Truth Lies, Slings and Arrows, Blindness).

TUFF is based on an open call for participation from both trained professional and untrained amateur filmmakers. Filmmakers are asked to submit to one of 7 urban-themed categories: Urban Diversity; Urban Encounters; Urban Ideas; Urban Imaginary; Urban Journeys; Urban Natural; and Urban Secrets.

Over $12,000 in cash awards and prizes, including:
* 1st PLACE – 4.5 star trip for two to the Dominican Republic, sponsored by BelAir Travel
* 2nd PLACE – $2,500 cash award sponsored by Heineken
* 3rd PLACE – $2,000 cash award sponsored by Heineken
