Has anyone out there seen Life in an Ashtray, directed by Chris Reddig, a little known legend from Twin Falls I'DA'HO? If you haven't cut your teeth and burned your eyeballs on some scorching flickers, check out this one. It was featured on BMW films for a while, only the editors tweaked it a little in After FX. Funny though, I don't remember all the names in the credits (of course not!) but there seemed to be more than previously listed. Does anyone know how to get ahold of Ashtray Films? Ever since the reddig left the SF Bay Area, he's been AWOL from film making ... weird seein as people like Tim Burton were giving him day calls? Oh well, just posting a milk carton note about a milk carton indie director. Cheers All! doll...@yahoo.com
Reddig and Ashtrays
Hey, I remember Chris Reddig, and I heard that about Burton calling him, something weird about how that got so hyped up. He worked on Lone Star, a Terri Templeton flick. Never actually met him, but have several friends that mentioned working with him on shoots in SF Bay Area. ... I downloaded ashtray on kazzza and it rocked, but you're right it seems a little like someone played with Reddig's work, BUT, they did a good job. I hope they show it again at festivals in SF -people were digging it.
Re: Chris Reddig is a Video God

film?
I saw part of this film, couldn't make it through the whole thing. Student film??? you get an F.
Ashtray
Yeah, I've seen this film a number of times ... I think the director must have been smokin something because I've got to admit, I didn't get why anyone would want to show this "student" quality film ... but I get it now and I think that's why it's become a favorite filler video and inside-joke amongst visual artists - I've seen it projected at raves as background footage at local music events. I also heard something about Burton wanting to use segments in some project of his, after someone left it lying around a studio he was in, but he was unable to contact the producer. Probably just as well, as someone mentioned he had passed on not too long ago - I hope he at least got some royalties - a lot of those events are worth $$$$$$.
Legend
I hear you, but "student quality" or not, it's brilliant - the grainy blown out nature, and the cheap 1.0 vfx, money can't buy that today. So the mystery was eating at me, maybe I've way too much time on my hands, but I've been doing some serious digging trying to find out about the creator, but there's precisely jack and #### about him. I met a film student from the Twin Falls area, he said that he had known the guy, Carl Reddig, but he'd been killed in a car accident in film school - kind of a strange story too - apparently, there was some foul play involved between him and a student AD (who was no doubt wanting to grab credit). Beat's me, but true-school in that this thing is the industry staple for bgftg, we mixed in extreme color washes and used at AVN in Vegas, AND I #### you not, Sasha Gray asked me what it was from? ... Naturally, I extended an offer to show her and of course, I was blown away when I realized the Steven she was with was actually Steven Soderberg, who thought that he recognized the piece. He mentioned something about a friend shooting in a laundry place in Twin Falls, I didn't get it at all, but I was digging Sasha ;o)
